2020 | Printmaking
Documented my first time printing since high school.
Printmaking is an art form that I hold in high esteem, I’ve been completely enamored by it since I was a little girl. In my grandparent’s spare bedroom where I would stay when we slept over, there was a woodcut of Huckleberry Fin, done by my Aunt Sue when she was in high school. The image and line quality distinctive to woodcut prints is forever burned into my brain. For one thing, Aunt Sue did a beautiful job but, it’s also the way that wood forces you to work with it instead of against it. Producing a mesmerizing dance of lines and textures flowing in and out of the grains.
It’s been a lifelong goal of mine to become a printmaker, and this is witness to the start of that journey.
